UPROAR Professor Bad Trip TOUR

Following the success and critical acclaim of our 10x10 programme last autumn, UPROAR returns with a new programme dedicated to new electroacoustic composition.  Three new homegrown commissions sit alongside three celebrated international works by pioneering electroacoustic composers. All specialise in the use of electronics to sculpt and manipulate the sound of traditional instruments to create new sonic experiences.  Performed by UPROAR’s new music specialist musicians this is an evening of virtuosic work for anyone interested in the new frontiers of classical music and electronic sound. This new programme commissions three new 8-minute works for large ensemble and live electronics from 3 welsh composers Sarah Lianne Lewis, Bethan Morgan Williams and Andrew Lewis. These works sit alongside those of three international electroacoustic pioneers emerging from the ‘Spectral Movement’ in Paris, Tristan Murail, Fausto Romitelli and Kaija Saariaho.

I BAWB YN Y MÔR

AN EXTRAORDINARY ART INSTALLATION

FOR ANGLESEY, SPRING 2019

With each pivot and change of direction in the wind, the painting panel communicates data to a website which each day, at 17.55, (The time of the uk shipping forecast), draws an arc representing the change in wind direction, onto a circle.

The circles will be split into eight sections, effectively forming an octave. A musical score will then be derived from the arcs drawn by the data each day. It is anticipated that due to a prevailing wind, many of the arcs will be facing the same way and therefore emit the same 'note'. This repetition will be evocative of a 'cardinal buoy' chiming and form a haunting basis on which the composition will evolve.

Acclaimed concert violinist, Philippa Mo, will perform over the bass of a Welsh Male Voice Choir and the performance / recording will take place on the site of the installation on 26 October 2019 - 160 years exacly since the storm.

Brahms Requiem

The Temple Church

Temple, London, EC4Y 1AF

Although originally written for choir, soloists and large orchestral forces, the Temple Singers will present an exciting new version; the orchestral parts have been rearranged for chamber ensemble consisting of flute, oboe, clarinet, violin, viola, ‘cello and piano by
Iain Farrington, though the choral and solo parts remain untouched. This is a unique opportunity to hear a sensitively re-worked interpretation of a timeless choral classic.
